I'm pretty sure I know exactly what you're thinking. How could I possibly compare a chafing gel with a face primer? How are the two even remotely connected? Most importantly, 'you put that stuff on your face?'
Yes! I do! And below I'll explain why I believe that Monistat is a wonderful dupe for the Smashbox Photo Finish Primer. Before I tell you that, let's start with the ingredient comparison.
Monistat:
Active Ingredients: Dimethicone - 1.2 %
Inactive Ingredients: Cyclopentasiloxane, Dimethicone, Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Silica, Tocopheryl Acetate, Trisiloxane

Smashbox:Cyclopentasiloxane, Dimethicone, Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Trisiloxane, Silica, Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Ethylhexyl Salicylate, Retinyl Palmitate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Carthamus Tinctorius (Safflower) Seed Extract, Propylene Glycol, Water, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Extract, Cola Acuminata (Kola) Seed Extract, Camellia Oleifera Leaf Extract.

*To be a little more precise, I've highlighted each matching ingredient in a different color (I'm so fancy, huh?).
As you can see, every single ingredient in the Monistat gel matches the ingredients found in the Smashbox primer! Do you believe me now?
I've been using the Monistat gel for years, and I've been using the Smashbox primer for a few weeks. I can confidently say that these products preform the same way. To be absolutely honest with you, I see no difference whatsoever. Both apply the same, smell the same, and feel the same. I don't break out from any of them, and they keep me relatively shine-free all day!
Here are some actual product comparisons.

You see? Nearly identical. The Monistat is just a tinge cloudier than the Smashbox (don't worry- the product hasn't expired).
How about the prices? There is a huge price difference between these products. 1.5 fl oz of Monistat runs for $5.98 on Amazon. Smashbox runs a whooping $49.00 for 1.7 fl oz of product. Smashbox also has 1 fl oz for $36.00 and 0.5 fl oz for $16.00. The product can be found here.
Verdict: The Monistat Chafing Relief Powder Gel is definitely a dupe! I love it and I use it a couple of times a week! It preforms just as well as the Smashbox primer & at a much cheaper value. If you're still on the fence about the Monistat, try it! You'll only be out about six bucks (;
Tell me what you think about my verdict! Have you tried the Monistat gel and love it as much as I do? Leave a comment below!
